I love work. I love the intellectual stimulation, the sense of accomplishment, the financial reward. I love business, I am genuinely interested by stories of corporation that rise and fall, by the strategic evolutions of markets, by the business models and the unexpected players. So starting work again after mat leave, I should be happy, right ?

1 year post maternity leave : what I wish I had known before I came back to work
1 year ago today, I was getting ready to come back to work after having my second daughter Peanut. 3 months before, I had finished work 3 days before my due date, I had put everything in order for projects to continue smoothly without me and I felt very confident. Outnumbered ! Tips from week-end on my own with a baby and a toddler
Lion was away last week-end and I stayed home with Apple and Peanut. He left on Friday morning when I was at work and returned on Monday night after bedtime : I therefore had to care for the girls on my own for 4 consecutive bath and bedtimes, 3 mornings and 2 full days. Days where everything goes to plan : the kids both slept through the night, I made it to the office before 8am, my boss is in a good mood, my team is motivated, my presentation to the Board is met with approval and smiles, my husband tells me I look pretty and I just signed a big contract that will really boost the P in my P&L.
Those days are precious, but they are rare…Read More »
Once upon a time, there was a breastfeeding Mum who decided to pump at work…
I recently went back to work after Maternity Leave. Peanut is 3 month old. I will explain in a separate post why I decided to go back to work relatively soon after the birth of my daughter, but what I wanted to talk about today was my experience with pumping at work.
With my first child, Apple, I stopped breastfeeding at the 3 month mark, and although I also went back to work relatively quick, I had already stopped nursing her by the time I stepped foot in the office. In this post, I will explain the reasons why I made that decision and I will share some practical tips for Mums with a busy work schedule who would like to do the sameRead More »
